Welcome to the Hong Kong International
Arbitration Centre's (HKIAC) .hk domain name dispute resolution website.
As of 1st June, 2001, the HKIAC is the sole provider of dispute resolution
services in regard to .hk domain names, having been appointed for such
purpose by the Hong Kong Domain Name Registration Company Limited (HKDNR).
Mandatory final and binding arbitration is the method chosen by HKDNR
for the purpose of resolving disputes in regard to .hk domain names. The
arbitration process for purposes of .hk domain name disputes will essentially
be based only on the documents provided by the parties with an in-person
hearing occurring only in exceptional cases.
Two categories of .hk domain names, Commercial and Individual, are provided
by the HKDNR. To establish the framework for the .hk Commercial domain
name dispute resolution mechanism, the HKDNR has published its HKDNR
Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy and its corresponding HKDNR Domain
Name Dispute Resolution Policy Rules of Procedure, and the HKIAC has
published its HKIAC Domain Name Dispute Supplemental Rules.
As for the .hk Individual domain name, the dispute resolution services
are governed by HKDNR Domain Name
Dispute Resolution Policy - Individual Domain Name and HKDNR
Domain Name dispute Resolution Policy - Individual Domain Name Rules of
Procedure, both approved for implementation by the HKDNR on 21 February
2003, as well as the HKIAC
Supplemental Rules to the HKDNR Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy
- Individual Domain Name, adopted by the HKIAC with effect from 21
February 2003.
A fully web based on-line .hk Commercial doman name dispute resolution
system has been developed by the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre
with technology powered and supported by Tradelink
Electronic Commerce Ltd. which facilitates the handling of domain
name dispute cases. Parties are urged to use this system as it will greatly
enhance the management of the domain name dispute resolution process.
